iPhone X is a great smartphone but it comes with two major flaws: Consumer Reports

iPhone X is Apple’s best phone ever- many would agree to this but Consumer Reports has a mixed feeling to it. After conducting a vigorous test on the Apple’s Rs 89000 worth iPhone X, Consumer Reports has reached to a conclusion that the phone is fragile and also is weak on its battery performance. The phone failed the drop test and also fared poor in terms of battery life compared to the iPhone 8s and Galaxy S8s.

Looking into the positive ones first, the iPhone X easily managed to get into the list of top 10 recommend phones by the Consumer Reports. The testers were also impressed by the absence of the home button in the phone and instead come with the Face ID. The expansive display of 5.8 inches of the iPhone X also took the mention. However, the testers also mentioned that there’s only a pinch of difference in the length of the phone when compared to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The Apple’s anniversary edition iPhone X evolved as a clear winner in terms of the beauty of the display. The OLED panel screen helped the phone achieve the highest scores from the testers. ” We think that Apple shoppers who put the iPhone X side by side with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will notice a significant difference, although these phones have very good screens as well,” says the report.

The phone also scored good in the camera department. The iPhone X comes with dual camera lens on the back where both can click 12MP images. The wide angle lens allows for an f/1.8 aperture while the telephoto lens has an f/2.4 aperture. The testers have called it the outstanding camera. In fact it the highest rated smartphone camera that Consumer Reports has tested.

Coming to the shortcomings, the iPhone X turned out to be very fragile. There were three units of the phone put into the tumbler that repeatedly drops the phone from a height of nearly 2.5 feet for  about 150 times. The first unit survived the first 50 falls but its rear panel had cracks after the next 100. The other two units reported of display break down after the first 50 falls only.

iPhone X’s battery life is also a matter of concern if we go by the CR reports. The phone stayed alive for 19.5 hours while the iPhone 8 Plus lasted for 21 hours. The phone lags behind the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus also. The Galaxy S8 ran for over 26 hours. Consumer reports says that the iPhone X’s battery life is worse than the 38 other phones.
